Our "Tropical" Indoor Swimming Pool

Well, we've always thought our indoor swimming pool was enjoying a tropical micro-climate. After all, the cactus and the other plants who live there have been growing at a jungle-like rate since their arrival on the banks of the pool... But you know how it is, we've got used to it: that's something we would only notice looking back at pictures of the pool from last year or two years ago.

But now, since a few weeks, we've been amazed to observe a more vibrant proof that this is indeed a tropical haven: a pineapple is growing up at the feet of the cactus!!! It took a few moments to remember that back in 2006, we had planted there a crown from a pineapple that we had for supper.

The fruit itself is now over a foot tall and is maturing slowly. After some research on the Internet, we believe that Domaine Tomali-Maniatyn's first pineapple harvest will happen sometime in February or March. While we cannot (yet) claim to be a tropical plantation, I'm quite certain, this is the first pineapple to ever grow on the slopes of Mount Sutton, just a few yards away from the (very) snowy ski trails...

Welcome on Domaine Tomali-Maniatyn, B&B's blog. Our Bed and Breakfast, is located in Quebec's beautiful Eastern Townships in a grand and serene settings.

In addition to our B&B activities, for which we have been awarded a 5 suns rating by Tourisme Quebec (it's the highest category, so we are very proud about that!), Domaine Tomali-Maniatyn hosts public or private special events such as: weddings, receptions, seminars, conferences, office parties... This blog will keep you updated with the schedule of events.

Our B&B is indeed special. Our main reception hall can accommodate up to 110 guests , we have several lounges, and beautifully landspaced gardens in a 26 acres property overlooking Sutton's valley... and I won't talk about our two swimming pools (incl. 1 indoor)...


During summer 2009, we have organized weddings and receptions and in September 2009, we will host our first seminar (in French) about Cause Marketing (details about this first seminar can be found in our French Blog)
